Abstract:With the rapid development of nuclear power industry in China, the construction of nuclear power plant(NPP) in in-land China becomes imperative. In this paper, the assessment of radiological, chlorine and cooling system impacts from inland NPPon the environment is presented by taking Xianning NPP as an example. The result shows during NPP's normal operation, the radi-anon dose rate of reference fish is 2.06×104mGy/d, less than the background data and international recommended limit. Thegross beta radioactivity in reservoir and downstream drinking intakes, after adding background value,is below I Bq/L, compliablewith the national drinking water standard. The impacts of chemical discharge and cooling system on reservoir environment are prettysmall. Moreover, this paper also makes analysis on the suitability of constructing NPP on domestic lakeside sites comparing withthat of foreign inland NPP with similar characteristics, and some suggestions to relieve inland NPP's impact on lake and reservoirenmronment are groen.
