Abstract:The evolution of Daihai and Huangqihai lakes in the Inner Mongolia plateau since holocene is studied. The Following conclutions are drawn. The lake levels rose up to lead to a little fluctuation in 12000-8000a B, P.; rhe highest lake level period appeared in 8500-6000a B.P., around 5000a B.P.the lake level began to descends in 4000-3500a B.P.the lake level went up again; and after 3000a B.P, the lake level reduced rapidly, but still had some fluctuations.Climate change was responsible for the major cause of making the lake level undulate. The recent change of the two lakes are due to irrational use of the lake.
