This paper reports an investigation on the zoobenthos in Caogang Lake, Henan in 1987, Zoobcnthos community of the lake was mainly composed of S species of oligochactcs 47 species of insects and 2 species of gastropods. Among them, Limnodrilus claparedianus and Pelopia gr. punctipennis were dominant. The mean density of zoobenthos in the lake was 2087 ind./m², while the mean biomass 4.869g/m². A comparison was made between the zoobenthos of Caogang Lake and those in the shallow lakes along the middle reachcs of the Changjiang River.
